Renting a Boat If you plan on renting a boat, JIC Rentals and Rich’s Rentals are both located at the marina. Call ahead for rates and reservations, and be prepared to use a credit card for deposit and payment.
At the same time, keep in mind that there are many ways to get out on the water without renting a boat, including ferries to Green Turtle Cay and Guana Cay, fishing guides with boats for sport fishing and bonefishing, or chartering a boat with a captain for a day. We recommend to all of our guests that they book a day of island hopping, snorkeling and an island picnic with Mark Carroll.
One last thing to consider before you rent - your personal liability. Boats are expensive, and import taxes and the logistics of getting replacement parts to Abaco make repairs quite expensive. If you damage a rental boat you are liable for all repairs, and that can cost potentially thousands of dollars. Inspect your boat before you leave the dock, and get written acknowledgment of any pre-existing damage.
Boating is perhaps the best way to experience the wonderful islands and waters that make up the Bahamas – have a great trip!
